She might be the baby of the family but Kylie Jenner is well on her way to becoming the world’s youngest ever self-made billionaire.
Gracing the cover of the August issue of Forbes, the 20 year old mother-of-one is said to be worth an estimated $900million thanks to her cosmetics line.
Kylie Cosmetics launched to great fanfare in 2015, with the Kylie Lip Kit selling out in seconds, since then the range has expanded to include highlighters, eye shadow and concealer. Once Jenner crosses the the $1billion mark she will eclipse Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg who took the title at the age of 23.
Discussing what motivated her to start her own makeup line Kylie told Forbes: “Ever since I was in sixth grade, I would wear purple eye shadow. I turned to makeup to help me feel more confident.”
A product of the Instagram-era the youngest Kardashian-Jenner credits social media as a platform to access fans and customers, regularly sharing selfies and pouting for pics to show off the products.
She may have fallen prey to criticism in the past for her cosmetic procedures but proving she’s now all killer and no filler the reality star recently admitted on Instagram she’d had her lip implants removed with followers praising her more natural look.
Determined to build a legacy to pass down to five month old daughter Stormi, Kylie’s ambition for her beauty empire shows no sign of waning and Kylie Cosmetics is very much a family affair with momager Kris Jenner handling her finances and public relations.
Other women making this year’s richest, self-made list include Kylie’s half sister Kim Kardashian West, Taylor Swift, Oprah Winfrey, Sheryl Sandberg and Anastasia Soare, founder of cosmetics company Anastasia Beverly Hills.
The combined net worth of the top 60 self-made women is now a record $71 billion, 15% more than in 2017.
