Long has the hunt been on for the perfect pair of vintage cowboy boots. Too big, too small, too worn, too expensive. None of them just quite right. However, just as we were about to give up on our Goldilocks mission, designers finally decided to take a turn towards the wild west for the ultimate return of the cowboy boot to the runway (and our wardrobes) this season.
No longer reserved for the rodeo, the trend featured heavily among Isabel Marant, Fendi and Off-White’s autumn winter collections. Admittedly, this isn’t a trend for the faint hearted. Had you asked me six months ago why I was torturing local vintage vendors to call should any cowboy boots turn up in my size, I wouldn’t have been able to explain myself. Fast forward to this season and I’ve got an entire Pinterest board dedicated to the trend.
In an attempt to soften the blow for those more sceptical about the trend, both luxury designers and high street brands alike have introduced more user friendly versions in an ankle boot style – the perfect starting point ahead of embracing the trend in all of its steel-toed, calf length wonder.
Whether the trend has you packing up and heading straight to the wild west or dipping your toes in a little more cautiously, our list of the best cowboy boots will have you in good steed to welcome the trend with open arms this season. Click through the gallery to see our full edit of the trend.
