For Faux Sake

Combine comfort and style this winter and snuggle up in some seriously soft fabrics.

Outerwear is taking coziness to the next level this season with faux fur in abundance all over the High Street. From longline coats, to cropped jackets and gilets these stroke-able fabrics are more wearable than ever and with so many quality, manmade alternatives widely available there is no need for real fur.

While shearling and feathery furs are readily available there’s a new favourite in town for AW18; the teddy coat. Possibly the closest you can get to wearing a dressing gown in public without judgment the teddy coat is the ultimate in cosy. More fuzzy-looking than furry with synthetics that resemble a well-loved teddy bear (hence the name) these coats work equally well dressed up or worn casually. Slightly seventies in appearance they work beautifully over floaty midi dresses, flared leg trousers and boots.

Pelts come in a plethora of colours but if there’s one colour that’s having a moment it’s brown. Far from being boring this tone was prevalent on all the catwalks, most notably Chloé, Fendi and Calvin Klein. If however you’re looking for something slightly bolder then embrace your inner Bet Lynch (if you’re old enough to remember who she is) and unleash your wild side in a leopard print number.

Versatile enough to wear at any time of the day the faux fur coat can add a touch of luxury and glamour to the most laidback of outfits but if piles of fluff really isn’t fur you then look for shearling trims around necklines and cuffs for a more discreet take on the trend.
