Designer Helen Steele made her return to Dunnes Stores for the release of her highly anticipated second collection following the successful launch of the Helen Steel x Dunnes Stores at the beginning of 2019. The collection is made up of 25 activewear staples ranging in price from €12 to €40.
Inspired by Helen Steele’s use of colour therapy as a guide, the Irish designer and artist created the prints featured during a Summer Heatwave. After painting all day the designer would walk around her local lake in the evenings as the bright pink sun was setting, casting a warm nurturing glow over the wild purple heather and green grassy reeds along the lakeshore. These colours then transpired to become the bedrock of the collection. Hues of pink nurture, purple connects the mind to the body and these colours are anchored by green, creating an overall feeling of balance between the body and the mind in a natural way.

The purpose of the collection is to allow women to transition effortlessly from running track to festival, without feeling the need to sacrifice fashion in favour of high-quality activewear. Speaking of the collection’s design process, Helen Steele said, “Each piece is designed for the optimum workout, but it was also important that I created a something that is fashion-forward, inclusive and colourful – of course!”

The collection, which encompasses festival wear, performance wear and the crossover between the two, features a long sleeve crop tee, double-layered shorts and long line vests. To top it off, the lightweight printed puffer, hooded poncho and retro zip through jacket are this festival season’s must-haves.
In Northern Ireland, the collection is exclusively available in Dunnes Stores, Abbey Centre.
