Inside A Beauty Editor’s Make Up Bag

As Beauty Editor here at THE STYLE EDIT, I am constantly testing and reviewing beauty products. I make it my job to find the best products I can, some come and go, whilst others have really stood the test of time. Here is a sneak peek into my current makeup bag, including a few festive favorites for the party season…

I like to have a few base options and my current favorites are the Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation and the Fenty Beauty Pro Filtr Foundation, both are very long-lasting and lightweight. I always have on hand the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream too, which I am obsessed with but use more in the Summer as it has SPF 50. A fairly new discovery that is the Tarte Shape Tape which is amazing under the eyes, it gets rid of dark circles in an instant and doesn’t crease at all. For blemishes and other imperfections on the face, the Nars Soft Matte Concealer in Custard is all I use, as it is so effortless to apply and blend. To set everything in place the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder is by far the best powder I’ve tried.

I have a bit of a bronzer addiction, and there are many which I love, but my favourite for the winter is the Nars Sun Wash Diffusing Bronzer in Laguna which has a sheer formula that blends beautifully so you never look overdone. For blush, it has to be peachy coral shade and I alternate between the Glossier Cloud Paint in Beam and Nars Gina. I don’t always contour and highlight but when I do, I love the new Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light Wand and Contour Wand which make application a breeze. I also love the Becca Highlighting Powder in Champagne Pop, it is such a great shade.

As someone with sparse brows, I need all the help I can get! A wonder product that I have recently discovered is the Benefit Browvo Conditioning Primer which creates a matte surface on which to apply product, but actually stimulates hair growth too! My fail-safe brow pencil is the Anastasia Brow Definer in Taupe, which makes filling in brows so quick and easy and I finish with the Glossier Boy Brow in Blond which adds texture and hold.

For eyes, Mac Paint Pots are my base of choice as they add dimension and also keep your eyeshadow in place, the shade Indianwood is a favorite. The palettes that I cannot be without are Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita and Tom Ford Cocoa Mirage, both are stunning and compliment green eyes well.  The best eyeliner of all time is the Charlotte Tilbury Rock ‘n’ Kohl in Barbarella Brown which I love to smudge across the upper lash line, but if I am going for a flick, then the Kat Von D Liquid Liner is phenomenal. I like lots of mascara and my new obsession is the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara which adds so much drama, it’s amazing! Finally, the Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadows are a must for the party season, all of the glitter with none of the mess!

When it comes to lips, I am admittedly fickle as there is a constant new obsession, but my favourite lip launch this year has got to be the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb, a caramel coloured lip gloss that suits everyone and leaves your lips plumped and glossy with no stickiness at all – it’s honestly the best lip gloss I have ever tried! The Pat McGrath Lipsticks are also amazing, the aesthetic and the formula is just right on-point. At this time of year I love a berry lip, and the Glossier Generation G in Jam is perfect for that on-trend blotted look.

Finally, no makeup look is completed without the right tools and I have found using good brushes makes such a difference to the application and finish. My Kit Co. have the most amazing brushes, they are phenomenal quality and are at a great price point too, I couldn’t be without them!
