I’m not sure about anyone else, but I’m finding this whole isolation, quarantine and social-distancing business pretty unsettling. In times like this, social media has proven itself time and time again to be a weirdly comforting constant – and now more than ever. Over the last couple of weeks, we have seen hundreds of our favourite celebrities, bloggers, chefs, coaches (and everyone in between) step up to provide more regular content for their loyal followers to help them manage during this unprecedented period.
So, in light of this, I thought it was only fair that I shared with you the accounts that have been keeping me inspired, well-fed and just damn right entertained over the last couple of weeks!
Ruby Holley – @rubyholley_
Of course, I had to kick it off with my absolute fave. If you don’t follow Ruby then, sorry, but where have you been? Not only is Ruby CONSTANTLY nailing it on the fashion front sporting many of our favourite high street brands (yay, affordable inspo), but she’s now branched out with @rubyholleyhome to share with us the stunning renovation of her new home. This has given me so many ideas for finally finishing the interior of my own flat during isolation. You can always count on Ruby for both topical and non-topical, honest content that’s super engaging. Oh, and she also has an adorable pup, Raffie, who has his very own insta @raffiethedog! If you also don’t follow him already then, you’re welcome!!
Emily James – @itsemilyjames
I’ve always been a huge fan of Emily’s effortless and classic style so I’m not surprised that now she has become my ultimate inspiration for WFH attire. If elegant, minimalist but oh SO fashionable styling sounds like your cup of tea then definitely give Emily a follow. Her content is always relatable and her looks are not only achievable, but affordable. Although I’m not convinced her hair will ever be attainable for the vast majority of us – absolute #hairgoals! One of my favourite things about Emily is, not only her ENTIRE wardrobe, but the fact that she always takes the time to tag all of her posts so that we can easily echo her style.
Cherie Tu – @thrivingonplants
I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that food has been keeping me going this past couple of weeks – literally and metaphorically! When you’re doing the responsible thing and staying at home all day, that one constant excitement you have is “What am I having for my next meal?” Lately, I’ve been getting so many ideas from Cherie Tu’s Thriving on Plants account. I’m not even vegan, but it doesn’t matter because her dishes are consistently delicious, easy, insta-worthy and super healthy, which is another added bonus. My absolute favourite is her Lentil Bolognese. Please try it and you can thank me later.
Dogs Working From Home – @dogsworkingfromhome
Easily the account that’s given me the most much-needed entertainment over the last week. What could be more adorable than cute dogs posing for WFH pics? Nothing. That’s what! It never ceases to amaze me how creative these owners have been with their images and, equally, how genuinely delighted with themselves the dogs look. The stories are just as entertaining as the entire feed and full of all of our furry favourites from Dachshunds to Spaniels, from Goldies to Frenchies. A much-needed heart warmer of an account!
Kathryn Holeywell – @wanderforawhile
I came across Kathryn’s account when I was randomly searching London hashtags and, OMG, thank goodness I did. Her content is so simple, but SO beautiful and an important reminder of the beauty of the little things in nature, architecture and in our exquisite capital city. Just the pink-ness of her outdoorsy feed is enough to diminish those feelings of being a little cut off from the outside world – so imperative at the moment! Lightness, brightness and full of flowers, I definitely recommend you follow this feed for an essential pick-me-up.
Danielle – @travel_a_little_luxe
Danielle’s account is utterly divine in all senses of the word and, for me, has been a vital reminder of all the magnificent places that I can’t wait to visit once all of this madness is firmly behind us. Not only can you appreciate so much about the beauty of our planet from a single image on Danielle’s feed but you can pick up some great holiday outfit inspo too for when it’s finally time to pack that suitcase again. Been dreaming of the Maldives, the Amalfi Coast or the French Riviera? Then give Travel a Little Luxe a follow for all the destination inspiration you could ever need.
Laura’s Little Locket Home – @laurabyrneshome
I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve recently been decorating our own little home for my boyfriend and I, or because everyone has been sharing so much ‘Stay at Home’ content which features many handsome houses, but I’m utterly obsessed with interiors at the moment. One of my absolute go-tos for inspiration (or just to stare at interior perfection) is Laura’s Little Locket Home – of course owned by Laura Byrnes herself. If neutral tones, warm accents and minimalism with a vintage twist appeals to you and your inner Kelly Hoppen, then look no further for your ultimate eye-candy.
Pets Yoga – @petsyoga
Exactly what it says on the tin – pets and yoga! Quite possibly the most heavenly combination that could ever have been masterminded, if you ask me. And, although you can’t experience the sheer joy of a yoga class featuring furry friends during lockdown, you can be bowled-over by the utter delightfulness of their Instagram feed which includes puppies, kittens and little bunny rabbits *n’awwwwww*. They’re also running a competition right now to win tickets to one of their post-isolation yoga classes. Give them a follow and check out their feed for the details. I’ve already sent my entry!!
Positive News – @positivenewsuk
This account has been making me smile on the daily and, is a simple concept, but definitely something every single one of us needs right now. From the most moving stories about the amazing individuals volunteering to help in any way they can during this global crisis, to up-to-date information on the progress of climate change activists, this feed will provide you with so much solace about the abundance of good in our world in a time when it feels like we are constantly surrounded by negativity and fear. Positive News fulfils its intention by providing both thought-provoking and informative content. 100% worth a follow!
Carolyn Knox – @carolynknox
Last, but by no means least, is actually an old co-worker of mine from my days as a Topshop Personal Shopper – the stunning Carolyn! Irrespective of us being fellow Topshop PS gals, Carolyn’s unstoppable style never fails to make me double-tap! The queen of berets and gold chains, this absolute beauty will provide you with all the inspiration you could ever need for when we finally make it out of our sweats and back into normal society. However, whilst we are stuck at home for the foreseeable, Carolyn’s branch account @eleventwentysix_ has also got your WFH attire fully covered on her latest stories!
