The Hottest Interiors Trends You’ll Want To Know About This Season

Whether you’re a slave to #trending inspo or you like to go against the grain, trends can follow fashion or furniture – but there’s no escaping them. Inevitably we are exposed to the latest popular paint palettes, the must-have focal furniture, or the ultimate home accessories. This season we have to say that there are some seriously covetable choices to hand when it comes to interiors. Think scalloped edges, blush tones, deco influences, flouncy fringing, fish scale tiles and pattern galore.

Sure to surprise and delight, we take a look at what’s on the horizon style-wise right now and some key interiors trends to get on board with this spring/summer…

A traditionally feminine hue, with a true call to nature, Pantone’s colour of 2019 is ‘Living Coral’. A warm and inviting shade, this season coral is set to invigorate our interiors from home accents to furniture staples. Whether you opt for an earthy hue reminiscent of shell clay and deep sea minerals, a pretty pastel pop that will add energy to any space or a deeper dramatic tone, coral will bring unexpected joy to your home this summer.

With upper level wall cabinetry falling out of favour, open shelving has become the popular choice of late, particularly in the kitchen. Clear wall space allows for creativity when it comes to styling the aesthetic of your shelving. Instead of hiding everything away, it’s now on trend to have your kitchen or pantry items on show – the prettier pieces at least. Shelving options are endless – choose between wood, mixed metals or concrete to achieve this look, while letting your shelving storage become a design accent hero to the main decor scheme.

The retro roundabout called to say fringing is back! We saw fashion fans celebrate flirty fringing across the AW’18 catwalks, so this SS’19 it’s the turn of interiors. Finding its way onto curtains and cushions, lamps and throws, fringing is enjoying a homeware homecoming this season. Opt for an elegant velvet cushion with tassel details for a subtle nod to this trend, or go for gold and add your own embellishments to furnishings to increase your home-fringe-factor.

Forget the the minimalist feel, pattern is key this season – and not just one pattern. Combining various styles of print and pattern together in one aesthetic is where this trend comes to life. To make this work on an everyday level, the key is to aim for one tonal palette, so the prints may clash, but the colour doesn’t. A tip is to select two colours and stick with them throughout the scheme. If a wallpaper or rug is busy in print, choose solid colours in furniture, paint work or soft furnishings. This visual balance will ensure that you can still create a calm, welcoming space. However don’t be afraid to be brave with pattern selection, go bold and make style statements to be proud of.

Surf the art deco wave this season, as scalloped designs hark back to a truly decorative era. This spring/summer interior trends are hot for all things curved… from ocean-inspired accessories to scalloped furniture, and from wavy wallpaper to fish-scale tiles. The look is fluid and expressive, celebrating a decadent trend, so feel free to team your scallops with prints, patterns and a side of seduction.
