…AND IT SOUNDS LIKE A CHART-TOPPER OF THE STYLE SCENE!
Let’s be honest, Topshop has never let us down in the past – and it’s not about to start now. This season’s SS18 lookbook is quite possibly my favourite to date. Like anyone, I adore the chunky knits and snuggly scarves of autumn/winter but spring/summer tends to pay homage to my two very favourite trends – pastels and print. And this season, Topshop has nailed it once again. The SS18 lookbook screams sounds of summer – abundant in pretty polka dots, sassy stripes and bold block colours. It succeeds in combining the best elements of many trends into one flawless trend package. Here’s a bit of #TSE inside info; this collection is said to have been entirely inspired by the style-savvy streets of Soho. Cosmopolitan at its best!
One of the biggest trends this season is polka dots and, I for one, am thrilled that polka dots have made a triumphant comeback with the likes of the iconic Carolina Herrara and Jason Wu going totally dotty on the catwalk for SS18. I don’t know about you, but when I think of polka dots, I envisage Julia Roberts at the polo in Pretty Woman – a picture of class and sophistication. Perhaps that’s just me, because the term actually derives from the popular ‘polka’ dance but nevertheless my vision is certainly echoed in Topshop’s collection this season in a number of stunning pieces that epitomise the timeless elegance of the polka dot thanks to beautifully classic cuts.
Another trend is making a much needed return to the catwalks and our high street this season: the ever-gorgeous bold stripe. Topshop’s wholly thoughtful collection of pieces means that you can incorporate stripes into any aspect of your outfit this spring/summer, however big or small, monochrome or coloured. There really is a stripe to suit every style and, most importantly, you’ll be right on the trend train with the likes of Balenciaga and Givenchy – goals!
But, Topshop’s pièce de résistance this season is undoubtedly its SS18 collection of floral prints. From daisy print wrap tops, to 60s-inspired floral prints, Topshop’s shelves are, quite literally, blooming with colour. With many pieces romantically reminiscent of designer garments, you’ll be looking like you’ve stepped off the Fashion Week catwalk in an instant! This season’s floral collections are such wearable pieces – whether it’s for work, the weekend or a night out – and all are such stunning statement pieces, that all the styling has been done for you. Just pop on and go!
Whatever your style, whatever your occasion and whatever your style query, Topshop has the answer this season (and if it doesn’t immediately jump out at you, pay the personal shoppers a visit). I’m truly impressed with how Topshop has evolved old trends such as candy stripes, polka dots, and 60s prints with so much vision and imaginative modern twists.
